CS Girls

CS Girls: is an opportunity for females in middle school (grades 6 – 8) to learn about computer science, cybersecurity, robotics, web design, programming, engineering, and much more in a fun and friendly environment. The goal is to excite other females about a career in STEM. This program runs June 23 – October 13, 2018. All girls must be registered and attend a session by 9/1/2018. Girls do not have to attend every session, even though it is recommended.

Registration is now closed

A representative from Apple Inc.  will be working with the girls on September 1 and a Google Developer will be also working with the girls in mid-August. I secured the grant through National Center for Women & IT’s (NCWIT) AspireIT program, which is funded by Intel, Goolge, and Northrop & Grumman. LFCC faculty and administration serve as a mentor and fiscal agent for the initiative.

Below is a picture of the girls enjoying the LFCC Computer Science “Robotic” Anti-Stress Cat.
